Volunteers Travel 330 Miles to Lend Helping Hands

Eight adult volunteers from St. John Lutheran Church in Green Valley, Illinois, traveled 330 miles round trip to lend their hands to the work of the Missouri-Illinois branch of OGT. They brought 20 handmade quilts plus a variety of men’s coats. Brad Jackson, manager of the site, coordinated the initial scheduling and work. A tour of the site also took place.
“Their work at the site involved sorting clothes, packing hygiene kits, bringing in food for distribution to various church-related pantries in St. Louis, and concluded with miscellaneous tasks,” reported Dr. Gerald Perschbacher, a board member of the branch. “They spent additional time in the afternoon for a stop at Concordia Seminary. Their help was sincerely appreciated.” Coordinator for the visiting group was Donald Lutz of Green Valley.
