Second Bedroom Container Delivered for N.C. Disaster Recovery

Orphan Grain Train truck driver, Bob Schleppenbach, delivered the second bedroom unit to Burnsville, N.C. This container has 16 beds with smaller individual rooms. Mary Bates, North American Lutheran Church’s Disaster Response Director is currently in Yancey County coordinating the rebuilding of 6,000 homes destroyed by the September 2024 Hurricane Helene. Bates arrived in the area a few days after the hurricane hit. Her crew of volunteers has completed over 100 homes and eight new buildings. They continue to seek volunteers to join in the rebuilding process. Housing, materials and tools are provided.
