OGT Phoenix Delivers Aid to Navajo Nation

“Welcome to Klagetoh” Chapter House sign, this is a small community of 166 residents in Apache County, AZ ( We were unfamiliar with the term Chapter House and we learned about it while there. A Chapter House is the most local form of government on the Navajo Nation. The Nation is broken into five agencies. Each agency contains chapters; currently there are 110 local chapters, each with their own chapter house. Chapters are semi-self-autonomous, being able to decide most matters which concern their own chapter.)

On July 18th, Orphan Grain Train Phoenix loaded 640 boxes of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, bedding, quilts, toys, layette kits, six bikes, folding chairs and more, onto a 26′ box truck and drove over five hours to deliver to a new location on the Navajo Nation located in Klagetoh, AZ. They were welcomed with smiles and hugs and many residents helped unload the shipment. Half-way through the unloading of the truck, several of the women residents made fresh Navaho Fry Bread Tacos. It was just what was needed to have the energy to finish unloading the truck. A week later, it was reported that all the items were distributed to the surrounding area and the local churches. OGT-Phoenix was asked when they will come again!
640 boxes were hand carried or wheeled to the ChapterCommunity Center, then sorted by category and stacked up!
Just a few of the Klagetoh residents and OGT Volunteers who unloaded the truck.
