Malawi Prison Service Reports Back to Houston

In December of 2025, Orphan Grain Train Houston sent out their first international shipment. The shipment was shared with the Malawi Prisons Service. Reverend Brian Kondowe, Head Chaplain for the Malawi Prisons Service, sent this letter to Orphan Grain Train shipping director, Ginger Beckman.
The Malawi Prison Service (MPS) received a significant boost in its efforts to improve inmate welfare following the donation of a humanitarian supplies from the United States, facilitated by Orphan Grain Train. The consignment, which arrived in Malawi on April 9, 2026, took approximately three months to transit from U.S.A.
Speaking on the development, National Prisons Chaplain, Senior Superintendent Ord. Brian Kondowe highlighted the importance of the donation and the collaboration behind it. “These assorted items will benefit many inmates. Many are in need, and some leave prison without even basic clothing. This will bring relief and restore dignity to many lives,” said Kondowe.
