Louisiana Service Groups Gather to Support for Food Insecurity

It has been a busy two weeks in many of the parishes of New Orleans as community groups gathered to put food boxes together and then distributed the boxes to people in need. Full distributions of boxes containing rice, beans, canned tuna, onions, cucumbers, apples, cabbage and potatoes were shared with individuals, pantries and faith-based groups. Refined Community Empowerment distributed at 5th African Baptist Church, while Geraldine Watkins distributed out of her home in LaPlace. Orphan Grain Train has been helping to support the relief of food insecurity in the area. OGT Wisconsin recently delivered 38,000 pounds of potatoes to Toi Carter and Louisiana Just Recovery. The Episcopal Food Pantry in St. Francisville, Louisiana Organization for Refugees and Immigrants, Youth Ministry Explosion for Christ International and Common Ground Relief helped distribute the many pounds of potatoes. Thank you, to the many volunteers who came out to pack boxes, load trucks, knock on doors and hand out boxes.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Luke 6:38
