Norfolk Volunteers Deliver Food to Lexington and Hastings, NE

In late February, Kent and Carol Wilke, Orphan Grain Train Norfolk volunteers, traveled to Lexington, Nebraska and then Hastings, Nebraska to deliver two trailer loads of food. The food was delivered to Lexington Community Action and Hastings Crossroads Mission to be shared with people in the area. Hamburger, canned goods, flour, oatmeal, and fortified meals were delivered. In January, Tyson Foods permanently closed its major beef processing plant in Lexington. Roughly 30% of the town’s workforce lost their jobs causing housing and food insecurity.
