Colorado West Hosts Open House in Northglenn
Orphan Grain Train Colorado West recently hosted their first Open House and invited area churches and the community to come learn about Orphan Grain Train and how they might get involved at the Gethsemane Collection Center in Northglenn. They shared the OGT story with members of five churches. Visitors had a great opportunity to see what happens at the Center.
Volunteers were busy demonstrating the sorting and packing of clothes for visitors to observe the process.
Many of the Special Projects such as school kits, hygiene kits, layette kits, and pillowcase dresses were set out on tables for display. These kits can be assembled at home and then donated to be sent out for shipments.
Videos were shown to better share the story of Orphan Grain Train: the history, the mission and the volunteer involvement of 27 locations.
One visitor went home with a jar of candied pumpkins after they guessed the closest amount to the correct number.
There was a drawing for a picnic basket loaded with items to have a great picnic – just add food!
Visitors could pick up OGT informational handouts and ask questions of their hosts.
Members of Applewood Baptist Church brought boxes of clothing from an event they had hosted earlier that day.
Thank you, to all the people who were invited and participated in this event! Thank you, also to the people who signed up to volunteer and have already begun. Orphan Grain Train is a Christian volunteer-based organization, and volunteers make the difference!
