Much Needed Hospital Materials Shipped to India

On February 12, a dozen Maryland branch volunteers loaded a 40-foot container bound for Scudder Memorial Hospital in India. A major portion of the load was close to a hundred hospital beds and mattresses—obtained from yet another hospital in Washington, DC which is being demolished. A classic example of one’s trash is another’s treasure, the load also contained sheets and pillow cases, gurneys, and patient lifts. These items will provide badly needed materials that will greatly enhance the ability of their medical facility to serve patients and their families who heretofore had only the floor for a resting place.
