Malawi Devastated by Floods Affecting Over 868,900

Malawi is facing devastating floods with over 868,900 people affected, including more than 87,000 displaced, 60 deaths and 672 injuries in their region alone. OGT received an urgent appeal for assistance from Honorable Ambassador Edward Yakobe Sawerengera, whom visited and toured Norfolk and OGT two years previously. We are very understanding and sympathetic of the flooding because of what our own region continues to endure. We are assisting our fellow Nebraskan’s with recovery efforts and will help to fund a container of relief supplies for the people of Malawi. Norfolk and Blanrtyre, Malawi are “sister cities” and “families” help each other. The 40 foot container is in Oregon and is loaded with medical equipment/supplies, blankets, clothes, beds, mattresses, tents and tools to be used for disaster relief efforts and is schedule to start its journey on June 7. Please pray for the people of Malawi and for relief efforts.
