Joining the Parade to Celebrate Independence Day

Volunteers at the Maryland Branch formed a Thrivent Action Team to build a float for the Severna Park 4th of July Parade. A replica of the Maryland warehouse, built by Paul Buelow and Norm Giguere, along with a train cut- out from a previous float, was on the flatbed. The parade’s theme was “Service to Country, Service to Community”, so we mounted pictures that showed our relief aid to community needs, along with Maryland’s recent Liberia shipment, on the replica. Walkers passed out the OGT brochure with an add-on sheet advertising our free community walk-out program for medical supplies. The float was followed by our OGT truck. Eighteen enthusiastic walkers/riders braved the 93-degree heat to support our ministry!
