Donate Backpacks to Help Those in Need in South Sudan

WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS! This idiom means that when bad things happen, usually other bad things happen. We are seeing this play out in the newest country in the world, South Sudan. Over the past three weeks, Bor, the capital of the Jonglei State – an area covering over 47,000 sq. miles, has been experiencing huge flooding from heavy rains and the Nile River overflow. High water has covered over 90% of the whole town, displacing thousands of people. Three persons have drowned in the town and many have lost everything. The natural disaster is a true punch to the gut for people who are already among the poorest in the world. OGT’s Maryland Branch is in the process of gathering humanitarian aid and plans to ship in late September. We are looking for backpacks so that people can carry their meager possessions. Backpacks can be brought to the Maryland warehouse at 621 East-West Blvd., Millersville on Tuesdays from 9-12 and 5-7 and the 2nd Sat. of the month from 9-12.
