65 Quilts Delivered to Lincoln With Another 65 Still To Deliver

The lady is Helen Mather, and she is a member of St. Paul Lutheran church in Weeping Water. She and another St. Paul member, Valara Horn (over 80 years old) make quilts for Orphan Grain Train. Mrs. Mather and her husband, Rodney, delivered 65 quilts (full-sized quilts!) to the Lincoln warehouse, and they have another 65 at home that didn’t fit in their car. Mrs. Horn prepares the front of the quilts—as many as 15 to 20 a week—and Mrs. Mather finishes them. Mrs. Mather said that it’s a real challenge to keep up with Mrs. Horn!
