1,000 Christmas Gifts Needed for July

Kelly Asbury and her daughter Becca are spearheading a project to put together at least 1,000 OGT Christmas Gift Boxes to be shipped worldwide this year. They will be collecting items through the end of July and are asking for items and monetary donations to fill the Christmas boxes. This is a special project dear to their heart and last year they, with the help from donors and volunteers, were able to complete 959 boxes! Kelly shared “The children around the world who will receive these boxes rarely receive any gifts. Some do not own anything other than the clothes on their back.” The Christmas boxes will be put together in August and shipped in September for Christmas surprises around the world in December.
Items Needed for ages 2-12:
New underwear, new socks, 24 -count boxes of crayons, coloring books, pages of stickers, small plastic and rubber balls, and toothbrushes in individual packages.
Gently used items that can be donated include T-shirts, stuffed animals (Beanie Baby size), and toys including dolls, jump ropes, wheeled toys (no combat vehicles), hair bows, blocks (Legos, Duplos, wooden), and children’s puzzles.
Please be mindful that the box sizes are 7 by 13 by 5 inches yet able to hold a lot of gifts.
Items and monetary donations marked ‘Grace Lutheran Christmas Box Project’ can be sent or delivered to Grace Lutheran Church or the Orphan Grain Train office, not the warehouse. Items will be collected through July 31.
OGT’s address is 601 W. Phillip Ave Norfolk, NE 68701 phone # 402-371-7393. Grace Lutheran’s address is 416 W. Park Norfolk, NE 68701 phone # 402-371-1044. Because of limited hours of operation, it is best to call the organization before stopping.
