Floods in Haiti Cause Problems

It is the beginning of the rainy season in Haiti and Cite Soleil is starting to have terrible flooding. One of our recipients, Sandra Koch with Help for Haiti says the water in the high mountains flows down into one canal in Cite Soleil which is so clogged with debris, that the canal overflows bringing the sewage, trash, and flooding into the streets and right in the houses because when you enter a house you step down, not up. The houses are lower than the street so with every rain and flood, the houses flood. A two-foot high wall was built around a school to keep it from flooding. The canal, with all the rain, overflowed the wall--right into a school and thousands of little houses. The floodwaters are a mess but the sewage and trash are the real problem with potential health issues. Help for Haiti has sent food, beans, clothes, buckets, and blankets donated from OGT to victims of the flood. The pictures are from Sandra of precious Haitian children with trash and sewage from the flooding in the background.(5-2016)
