  • A shipment for Kids International Ministries (KIM) was cleared and unloaded in Manila recently. The inventory included 142,560 Mercy Meals, school books, sewing machines, and twin beds with mattresses.

  • OGT’s 2016-17 Fiscal Year (FY) ended yesterday, May 31 and we have some exciting numbers to announce with International Shipments! Orphan Grain Train had 107 international shipments, up from last year of 90 shipments.

  • Integra LifeSciences donates more shunts for Kyrgyzstan

  • On April 29 there were 24 people killed when heavy rains triggered landslides which swept through a village in southern Kyrgyzstan. Among those buried alive were nine children. On May 11 OGT received an email from our recipient Compassion asking for tents to help families now homeless.

  • We had fun sorting boxes of clothing and repacking them into OGT boxes with Summer-winter labels. After 2 hours of packing we enjoyed a pizza party. This was a great activity from Thrivent to help pack boxes for those in need around the world.

  • On Wednesday, April 19 OGT’s President Pastor Ray Wilke and Board member Bernie Wrede delivered and distributed 3,000 lbs. of ground beef and various foods to the students at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO.

  • Orphan Grain Train is deeply saddened by the passing of Elroy Koch from Kiron, IA. He passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison at the age of 80 years

  • OGT has shipped school supplies, humanitarian aid and Mercy Meals to Malawi for distribution by Joe Mtika. Joe was born in Malawi but has resided in Norfolk, NE for several years and founded the school in Malawi to offer education to the underprivileged youth. Sawerengera and those with him were especially impressed with the Orphan Grain Train and Mercy Meals. OGT and Mercy Meals will be aiding Malawi in the future and helping the nation to feed its people given that Malawi is one of the world’s poorest countries.

  • The first load of fencing is delivered to Haxtun, CO with the second load being delivered to Ashland, KS. The fencing is being distributed to farmers whose fence line was damaged in the recent prairie fires.

  • People’s homes are flooded, their clothes are wet. It is awful BUT PRAISE GOD for OGT.

  • Recent prairie fires swept through large areas of Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado, and the results were disastrous. Buildings, homes, and pasture fences were destroyed and Orphan Grain Train can help. OGT is in the process of accepting semi-loads of donated hay as well as locating truckers with the proper equipment for hauling hay.

  • Beth Hovel and her father Terry are involved with YES! (Youth Empowered by the Spirit) in Haiti and they receive food donated from OGT through Help For Haiti.

  • OGT's Grant Schmidt VP of Operations received this email "thank you" message from Sandra Koch of Help For Haiti (HFH). OGT's ability to help these desperate children and people is because of the support from our donors and volunteers so OGT would like to pass this "Thank You" onto you!

  • Gospelink ministry in Zambia was able to unload its first shipment from OGT’s Norfolk warehouse.

  • Central Nebraska Branch has shipped 3 containers of humanitarian aid to Kern and Jennifer Saleena with Church of God of Prophecy in La Chorrera, Panama.

  • Earlier this month the Central Nebraska Branch in Grand Island delivered a load to the Open Door Mission in Omaha, NE.

  • OGT’s Larned Collection Center in Larned, KS is the recipient of tied quilts from a mission started in 2012.

  • OGT received some very sad news January 17th. One of our Haitian recipients, Leonard Isidor was shot and killed outside his home on the afternoon of the 17th.

  • The congregation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, NE raised more than $900.00 for OGT’s Project Feed 500!

  • OGT would like to send a very special Happy Birthday wish to Elroy Koch who is turning 80 years young today! Elroy dedicated 22 years as the Iowa West Branch Manager and his wife Barb worked alongside him as the Warehouse Coordinator.

  • Again this year the inmates at Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield, SD came together to pack meals for the less fortunate.

  • Pastor Ray Wilke, OGT’s founder and President, was one of the recipients of the Distinguished Nebraskan Award from the Nebraska Society of Washington, D.C..
