Liberia

Orphan Grain Train continues to assist native Liberians who are trying to rebuild their country since the civil wars in the 1990's.

Multiple relief shipments of clothes, quilts, blankets, linens, school books and supplies, health kits, medical supplies and medical equipment were sent in 2006.

Recipients included the Maranatha Evangelistic Association of Liberia and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Liberia.

During February and March 2002 it appeared that Monrovia would soon be overrun by 20,000 refugees who were fleeing insurgents in Lofa County. Orphan Grain Train purchased food for some 6,000 of the refugees as they waited until it was safe to return home.

The pictures on this page were taken in the mid-1990's after the peak of the civil wars. The orphanage described on this page continues, by the support of Orphan Grain Train. A Christian (Lutheran) school provides education for the orphans. This school is also supported by generous contributors to Orphan Grain Train.
