Bless your day.
I must apologize for not communicating better. I have been quite ill since having had a total hip replacement in October. I have been reminded of how little we are in control, that it is His time and work about which we do.
About Thanksgiving, I developed a form of colitis causing me to become anemic. Then, I started getting skin ulcers which ate a significant area of my lower abdominal skin which at largest was about 8x13 inches, a 3x4 inch area of my the top of my right foot, A 2x3 inch section of the incisional area of the hip and lastly a 3x3 divot of my left knee. With the two new knees and the brand new hip, we were quite concerned. Over the next month, I had 6 operations to resect dead and infected tissue; place skin grafts on the foot; narrow the big abdominal wound; and partially close the right hip area.
Yesterday, I had one skin graft to the knee and closure of all the other wounds. If no infection recurs in a couple days, I will get off antibiotics and may be able to get out of hospital in a few days thereafter.
Having been in hospital continuously since 27 December, I am ready, with God's help.
My cell phone is 402-992-2301 and on all the time, plus I do have access with email now. I am getting stronger daily. My underlying proctitis is also under treatment and improving daily. My anemia is stable; I am no longer losing blood, thanks Lord.
My work with OGT and CME has been difficult these last two months. I had a wonderful trip to Kenya with LCMS World Relief last summer and plans are in the offing for a return to Sierra Leone and Liberia if I can recover adequately to do. Pray for me, please.
Thanks again for thinking of me.
Blessings and peace through His grace,
Doc Foster
