Thrivent Financial GivingPlus® gift matching for contributions to Orphan Grain Train

Orphan Grain Train now qualifies as a Thrivent GivingPlus® recipient. That means that your gift to Orphan Grain Train is eligible for a 50% match by Thrivent if you are a Thrivent member. The GivingPlus® Member Gift Form is needed from you to receive those matching dollars.

It's easy to see your gift increase by 50%! Here's how:

  1. Write your check, payable to "Orphan Grain Train"
  2. Complete your portion of the Thrivent GivingPlus® Member Gift Form and directions (downloads of the PDF file can take 5-10 minutes using a dial-up modem);
  3. Mail your check and form to the Orphan Grain Train regional division of your choice, or to the address listed below.

(The Member Gift Form and the GivingPlus® Giving Guidelines require Adobe Acrobat Reader® which is a free downloadable program available at www.adobe.com.) :

  • You are automatically a Thrivent member if you own an insurance policy from, or have an investment through Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
  • The 50% match applies to all gift(s) totaling up to $600 per calendar year (there is no longer a lower limit gift amount).
  • Any family member 16 years or older residing with you can fill out the Family Membership Application. Gifts can then be made to Orphan Grain Train in their name and would be eligible for the same matching limits described above, therefore increasing the match available from your household. (Example, instead of one gift to Orphan Grain Train of $1,800 being matched on only the first $600, three family members each giving $600 to Orphan Grain Train instead, would have all $1,800 eligible for matching.)
  • Stock or mutual fund share transfers are also eligible.

Special bonus for volunteers, of which we have many! When a member contributes 25 or more hours of volunteer service that they submit with an eligible GivingPlus® gift, Thrivent will contribute an additional $25. Just indicate your volunteer service by filling in the appropriate oval on the GivingPlus® Member Gift Form. Volunteer service includes unpaid time working on projects and activities or serving on a regional or national Orphan Grain Train board.

Ineligible Donations:
Worship offerings and donations to a congregation. Donations that are intended for a congregation but are given or made payable to a Lutheran organization.

  • Donations made on behalf of others.
  • Fund-raising activities, such as benefit dinners or auctions, golf outings, car washes, pizza or candy sales, etc. Any activity where donors receive goods, services or discounts for their gifts.
  • Donations that are not given directly to a specific organization.
  • In-kind contributions (i. e., the value of equipment or materials, donated time/ service, etc.).
  • Tuition payments, registration fees, student or camper fees or any other charge where a named individual would receive goods, services or discounts in return for the donation.
  • Donations to educational associations or professional affinity groups. Members must specify the particular recipient organization to which their donation is being made.

Please mail your completed Thrivent Member Gift Form with your check to the address listed below.
